Natural horsemanship has always been a part of my life and although I practiced it, at that time, the words were not there. Today there are many different programs touting "Natural Horsemanship" and if one breaks them down, they are all from the same basic principles. Some people refute the word "Natural" because horses were not born with saddles and bridles. I agree that this statement is true, but I have also not found a "Natural" lasagne growing in my garden, but I can promise you that, with the ingredients in my garden, I can prepare and cook an all "Natural" Lasagne! So why can't I take the ingredients of knowledge and create horsemanship in a "Natural" way? My focus is on the rider / handler and helping them to create a positive relationship with their horses. A happy horse helps in making a happy rider!
